I threw myself into the cancer world back in Nov of 2012. This is because of my profile photo (Calle). Is she my child?? Nope.... Is she related to me?? Nope.... She was an innocent little girl just trying to live her childhood. I followed her page from the beginning. Im not sure Ive ever wished for something so strongly in my life (her surviving). You see, Calle was diagnosed with pretty much the worst cancer possible (DIPG) survival rate is 8-12 months. Supposedly 200 kids are diagnosed every year. I believe its higher. Because so few are diagnosed, the government funds it 0%. You read that correctly.... 0% This now forces the family into saving their kid mode. Heck, who else is going to do it??? Calles family created their own foundation in Jan of 2013. They have raised over $850,000 for research and to help other families diagnosed with DIPG. The question posed in this event is, what are you doing 365 days a year for cancer? I listed a few below, and some are easy to do. (1) donate blood (2) shes my profile photo. I hope someone clicks on my profile and reads it. Make them aware. (3) given the opportunity, I will spread her story to anyone that will listen. (4) through so many friends and family, weve been able to raise over $1,400 for St.Jude spanning 3 fundraisers. Theres so much more but Ill spare this post getting longer.
