I took an ethics seminar recently that discussed the differences in attorney and client perception of good communication--attorneys polled generally felt that a phone call returned within 24 hours met that requirement; clients expected calls returned within an hour. Its easy to see the huge disconnect. The challenge, of course, is to find the time to actually produce work while also fulfilling the duty to keep clients up to date on their matters. I must admit to following the 24 hour rule myself--time to reevaluate our processes in 2015.
