I took this picture in the late 1970s. It is a picture of my car, a Fiat 131 that I owned from 1977 to 1982. But it is the background that is most interesting. We lived 2 doors up Carroll Avenue from the Votaw house, and it is clearly visible. The house on the right is the one next to ours at 7637. Our driveway was at the back of the house and came off of Palmer Lane, so this is the view I saw of the Votaw house all the time. The sun room on the back is really visible, and was the most distinctive thing about the house from this angle. It truly is a beautiful house. My mother told me it was built on a double lot, and that one of the lots was vacant. The house on the other lot was moved over to Chaney Drive. Bob and Inez Gleason lived in that house in the late 50s and early 60s. As you can see, I lived very close to the Votaw House. When George and Imogene Akers lived there from 1970-1974, they had a German Shepherd dog named Sheba. I saw Sheba a lot, their son Danny often walked Sheba along Palmer Lane behind our house. I heard that Sheba was a good guard dog, but I never felt that Sheba was very fearsome in the encounters I had.
