I try not to post too much in the way of political criticism of the president of the United states of America, as the bible warns not to speak evil of dignities...so Ill be careful. This is one of the most blatant, bold, and (I believe) intentional displays of disrespect for our military that a person (especially the Commander in Chief) could ever render, other than just outright flipping the marines off. As a former marine, I can tell you, those marines on presidential guard take great pride in serving in this billet, and are trained, willing, ready, and expected, to give their life to protect the president. The last he can do is PUT HIS COFFEE DOWN (or even transfer it to his left hand) and render a proper return salute!!!
