I try to keep personal posts to an absolute minimum on this page. The page is devoted first to computer security, secondly to computer science, and thirdly to science and math in general. However, I thought this worth sharing: Forgive the length of this post, but it is something to ponder. This Christmas my mother gave me a very interesting gift. It is a small wooden box with a compass in the top. The engraving states My son, forge your own path, anything is possible. I have found myself looking at this and re-reading it several times in the past few days. Reflecting on forging my own path. I think that so many of us forget that we do indeed forge our own path, or at least we can if we choose too. Our lives are, at least in one perspective, the culmination of the decisions we make. If you are not pleased with were you are in life, start making new decisions and acting on them. You can start small if you wish. But each decision takes you on a different path, even if only slightly, and enough small decisions will take you a different destination. So as we approach the start of a new year, I would share my mothers advice with all of you: forge your own path, anything is possible.
