I turned down a modeling contract between my freshman and sophomore years of college so I could finish school. At the time, I thought it was the more responsible thing to do; I really felt like God wanted me to stay in college, but a year later, when I was on the verge of failing out, I started to have second thoughts. I was so lost in life; I thought to myself, why on earth would God lead me to the decision of staying in college, only to fail out? What I didnt realize at the time (and yes, I am aware it was immature thinking) was that God placed staying in school on my heart for a reason; I subsequently made the decisions that led to bad grades, missed class, partying all night. He had plans for me, but I allowed myself to take over my own life, instead of submitting to God and letting Him do his thing. I tried to take control and when I did, everything started to fall apart. The point of my very long-winded story is this: God has plans for us. Amazing, wonderful, unfathomable plans. There was a reason I said no to that contract. However, problems arise when we forget whos in charge and start making decisions that conflict with His will for our lives. Thats where we go wrong. We cant blame God for our lives being messed up when we decide we want to take control and stray from the path He has designed for us. Were not meant to be the drivers of our lives. He is. Were not meant to follow our own path. Were meant to follow His. Were not meant to shine for ourselves. Were meant to shine for Him. You want to know what happened when I slid back over to my designated place and gave God the reins back? WE finished undergrad with a 3.0. WE completed the masters program with a 4.0. WERE applying for a DOCTORATE program. WERE heading a movement in Uniontown thats going to blow peoples minds. WE are sharing testimony with others. I say we because I know where I should be without Him. Gods in charge of my life. Im just along for the ride! I encourage yall to try that out for yourselves.
