I unapologetically affirm my support and affirmation for Pastor - TopicsExpress

I unapologetically affirm my support and affirmation for Pastor Mark Driscoll, whose recent apologies for some surely wont be enough. Hes made some mistakes. He failed to cite a source in a recent book he wrote. He hired a marketing firm to push his book onto a best-seller list in a way that may have manipulated the system. And he may have handled some staff issues in appropriately. One well-known Christian feminist blogger referred to all of this in a public tweet as Mark Driscolls dirty little secret. Why cast more of a shadow than necessary? Does it make you feel better to see that he is shamed and stripped of his dignity? How... progressive... Even today as I read the comments of other believers who are reacting to his apologies, I feel the venom and the anger toward him loudly. Its not enough, and it wont be until he is destroyed. Its another case of how we tend to eat our own. Pastor Mark, Ive not been to one of your conferences. Ive read a couple of your books, but Im not a groupie offering a free pass on any lack of moral restraint. Im just one Pastor who loves you, appreciates you, has learned much from you. As long as we Christians remain so hyper-critical and vehemently committed to over-policing the influencers among us, we wont influence the world for Jesus to the level of our potential. To my fellow Christian family members I would simply say, sometimes you people are just mean. But I love you. Im one of you. Ive been mean too. I just hope we can all grow up a bit together. Thanks Mark. Youre a class act with guts. Im praying for you as you hit the reset button.
