I understand that when the police say that you are under arrest, you are not to resist arrest. But, for a man to get the death sentence for selling illegal cigarettes is a disgrace; for him to say over 11 times “I can’t breathe” and the police not make an adjustment for him to at least be able to breathe is a disgrace; and for EMS to come and no one offer mouth to mouth resuscitation is a disgrace and it is tragic. One cannot help but believe that had he been white, he would have been handled much differently. There is an aggression that African Americans get from the police that others do not get. We need PRAYER! We do not need violent demonstrations or anarchy in the streets, but peaceful protest….we need PRAYER!
