I used to be a voracious reader. I couldnt read fast and I had trouble concentrating sometimes (my mind wanders), but I still dearly loved to read. Now I havent read a book in a year or two. And if I do, I tend to re-read things that I know I like, such as the Laura Ingalls Wilder books (Ive read them all at least four or five times) or the Lonesome Dove series. Also things like Shane and the original Hardy Boys. I also like non-fiction books about movies and TV and re-read them until they literally fall apart. I did some of my best reading in junior high and high school. I was a Steinbeck fanatic (The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden, The Wayward Bus, etc.) and read the first three Sherlock Holmes novels along with a bunch of the short stories. I was already a Poe fan having first started reading him in sixth grade. I read Wuthering Heights and it became one of my favorite books. I would go to department stores with my parents and spend the whole hour or two immersing myself in the paperback book shelves. When summer vacation approached, I would get excited imagining all the time Id be able to devote to reading over the summer.
