I usually dont respond to articles like this but I felt that something had to be said: The culture that birthed this music (US nightclubs playing disco, boogie, reggae, funk, r&b, new wave, soul, and everything in-between) placed heavy emphasis on the celebration of the dancers rather than the DJ ; the energy reciprocated by both parties was pivotal to a nights success. Events today that still command this level of respect for the dancefloor are ones that I gravitate towards. On a good night, it doesnt matter how many people are in attendance as long as everyone there is expressing themselves through rhythmic interpretations of the tracks. It disappoints me that someone would write an article celebrating the lack of support for such a beautiful phenomenon, and is also indicative of the type of events that the author goes to. I bet if the author was less concerned about the fistpumpers and skankers, he would be able to look within himself and express his passion for this music through movement. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless youre deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body. And, as I told you before, this is our house and our house music.
