I visited Rosenberg Animal Shelter today for the first time in a very long time. Im sure everybody knows I love cats and dogs, but the cats are my aim in the rescue world. I started out at this shelter, and only focused on cats. It was not easy, and not many cats made it out. They made no bones about that, and I promised to change things. And I did. And others started stepping up and I took a step back, focusing on other things. I went in today after not being there for a very long time. I walked in and man, did it ever smell in that place! I thought it was odd because its very clean. Walked into the cat room and wowzers, the smell nearly knocked me over! What was the smell, you ask? Poopy boxes? No, never here. Never. Its pristine there. So, sit back and let me tell you what it was. Sulphur dip. Want to know why this is actually so exciting to me? I am so excited to tell you! Those cats almost all have ringworm! What? Excited about ringworm? YES! In a shelter that used to be a death sentence for cats and kittens with ringworm and URIs, there was a room full of cats and kittens with ringworm, all being treated so lovingly by Megan, Jackie Juraseks daughter. She dips them, dries them as best as she can (they have to air dry because of the spores). One has been through a URI AND NOW RINGWORM! This is HUGE. My heart was beyond happy and about to split open, and I wanted to hug them all there. I could hardly wait to get home and share this!
