I visited a conference in Bucharest last weekend. The main emphasis was on food related research and networking. We had some very interesting lectures e.g. on mycotoxins with an excellent update on latest knowledge and on new ways to publish and communicate. The most common way of publication is still the peer reviewed journal, however new visual media are becoming more popular, but scientists are not always the best communicators - I think there is considerable scope for improvement here.
