I walked into a Brethren Church some where in Wales on a week day - TopicsExpress

I walked into a Brethren Church some where in Wales on a week day to preach and speak about Missions. there were about 13 people including me that day. When we finished, we walked out side as people were coming to shake my hand and make there comments either on what I said or anything they wanted to say to me. One woman in her 50s came with some amount of joy shook my hand and made the following comments, I am very happy From Mutita Kashitos post: Today, that I was not the youngest in Church, I laughed with her, but little did she realize that, I was not exited about her joy, I was worried that if at a person in her 50s will be the youngest in Church, then that is sign for a dying Church. If our work does not keep our young people let alone attract other young people, then it is high time we stopped to think through our approach. It is not every young person who is interested in the noisy music or the clapping of hands for example as those are some of the conflicts we have in our circles. I think it has to do with the convictions of those of us who are in a kind of leadership role in our circles that makes people to have confidence in us. My own experience is that, even though the brethren have a very sound Doctrine, in most cases it is only a theory, academic knowledge and never in practice in ones life. Some one once said, your actions are too loud that I cannot hear what you are saying. If we talk about how a believer must live according to scripture, then be the very first person to show how that life looks like, otherwise you become a sign post in Lusaka showing the direction to Nakonde yet it is possible that sign was written in Lusaka and it has never been to Nakonde it chances are that it will never see Nakonde until the coming of the Lord. I think it is time for us all to begin evaluating ourselves on how much we are of what we preach or teach on pulpits. Our Theological qualifications, exposure to Missions, traveling around the world in the name of Christs work may be only tourism in the sight of God, nothing more. If I recall the meetings at Milele Center in Nairobi, I realize that, we do need to stop and do an evaluation of where we have come from, where we are at now, and then plan for where we would like to be in the next years ahead. In South Africa there is a program they call GOLD, (Generation Of Leaders Discovered) I imminently thought about the Brethren, have we discovered the generation of Leaders in our circles? God told Moses to tell Pharaoh Exo 9:16 And for this I have made you stand, to make you see My power, to declare My name in all the land. Before these words, he told him that, He could have whipped him from the face of the earth, but he was raised at that particular time, that He could do two things 1. display His power through him. The Gospel must be see alive in me if it has to make sense to others 2. His name to be known through out the earth. When that power has been displayed in our lives, people on earth will know the God at work. If the Gospel I preach has not changed me, how can I ever expect that it will change others? In Conclusion. we can help one another to put land marks of where we have been, where we are and where we should be in our Church and that we will help us to be focused in whatever we do. Otherwise, we will only be helping to kill the work of Christ. Please feel free to object my thoughts or contribute to these thoughts. I suppose that developer of this page wanted us to have a platform from where we could brain storm together as Brethren.
