I walked into kroger today with my adventure time backpack on my back (empty). I got my food (tuna, granola, spinach ect.) I carry it to the self scan and scan it all. Next to me is a family, soccer mom, letter jacket football teen and pleated skirt girl sister. I hear them whisper to each other oh, jeez... Look at him. I look down at their items... Doritos, pepsi, hot pockets, hungry man dinners, kool aid ect. I think to myself... have fun with your cancer alzheimers combo at 40. But I smile and go about my business. Upon leaving, the steward runs out after me, Hey! Hey you there! You gotta pay for all that! Whats in your bag?! I humor him and walk back in, everyone in the lines staring like Im gonna get arrested. The 16 something football player laughs at me. I smile. They print my receipt and search my bag. I smile and walk back out. The world is a funny place, remember things are not as they seem.
