I walked into the recruiting station and poured a cup of coffee when SFC Shaw said..dude we are under attack! We pulled up CNN on the laptops and Bam the phone starting blowing up. My wife was locked down on McDill AFB and ran to the school to get Martin while carrying Alessa and Dominic. She had the most terrifying tone I ever heard...and McDill got locked down, no one in no one out. She pleaded that I take off my uniform..McDill could be a possible target. We were ordered to park the Gov cars in front of the windows, change out of uniform and lock down the recruiting station. We had no choice but to simply watch everything unfold...answer the panicked calls and hope our families were ok without us... we couldnt get to them to calm their fears. After 10 or so hours they let me back on base...and my family and I wept together and shared our shock and fear. The recruiting station blew up with Vets...all the way from Vietnam...wanting back in..they wanted to fight the enemy they knew we were going to face. Where were you? Lest we forget...9/11
