I want to invite you, encourage you, even challenge you in this calendar year, to draw closer to God than you ever have before, to pursue a more intimate relationship with Him. Fundamental to drawing closer to God in this new year is a sense of what an author I read over the holidays referred to as “divine anticipation”—the expectation that as you seek the Lord you’re going to encounter Him at work in your life, because He promised His presence and He promised that He would be faithful to complete the work that He began in your life until the day of Jesus Christ. I want to encourage you at the start of this new year to embrace a sense of divine anticipation. God isn’t finished with you yet. He’s still in there working, progressively transforming you and conforming you to the image of Jesus Christ. You can expect to encounter him on a daily, moment-by-moment basis because if you have trusted in Christ for your salvation, He is present in your life. In Christ you have the fullness of God.
