I want to publicly thank God for the joy and privilege of having blessed relationships with people whose color and culture are different than mine. To the black child who was my first best friend back in our Bronx housing project - Malcolm Reid. Thank you. To Armando Mendoza, Rhonda Kirschner, the de Jesus sisters, and all our friends on Randall Avenue. Thank you. To my SUNY art school buddy George Spencer. Thank you. To Rose Austin at Clark Howell-Techwood in Atlanta, who served all with the same love and respect. When she passed, they found her sitting up in bed with her Bible laid open on her chest.
