I want to remind everyone that because of personnel changes, WOODWARD ANIMAL CONTROL will no longer be open on the weekends for the time being, beginning today. That said, I feel I need to remind everyone that, much as we would love to save every animal in Woodward, we arent Animal Control and we cant take in every animal that is found on the weekends. Our animals are vetted before they come to you, which means we are careful from the DAY we get them to keep disease out of our shelter. We dont take dogs without immunizations - and puppies have to vaccinated and held for TEN days before they enter the shelter. Once the new building is open, we will use the old building as an isolation building, and we will be able to do more. We will have more space, more runs, more PLACES to put strays and puppies and kittens until we figure out where and who they belong to. Right now, we dont have that luxury. So please understand, that even though Animal Control is going to be closed on the weekend we CANT jump in and help. Animal Control, and WOOF, are going to have to count on the citizens of Woodward to help each other out. If you find an animal, please keep it until Monday when it can go to Animal Control to be claimed. Neighbors, maybe help neighbors, and get together - get creative and help each other if someone needs a place for a dog for a day or two. IF YOU CAN HELP in an emergency, and dont mind people calling you, comment here. I wont post emergency placements - insurance liability wont let us, and Im not even THINKING about infringing on Animal Control territory, but I will let people use us as a clearing house to help each other until Slab gets enough people hired on to help him to get Animal Control back into their weekend schedule. Have a good day, and a good weekend, and REMEMBER, its hot out there. DONT leave your animals in your car. Make sure they have plenty of water and shade if you HAVE to leave them outside....but they are better off inside with you......~Leila
