I want to share a personal experience on why I am so against Woo (and Dr Oz in this case) I injured my back last year, and it turned out to be a herniated disc. I was to the point I couldnt walk without crutches and eventually bed bound for a good 3 months because there was so much inflammation it was causing sciatica which had done a bit of nerve damage in my left leg as well. I was about to have surgery when a friend of mine (whos a nurse and whos husband had the procedure done prior), told me about epidural steroid injections. I decided to have one done, and Im not going to lie, it hurt like HELL (although the Doctor said this was due to the severe amount of inflammation I had at the injury site which made sense) About two weeks later, I was feeling better than I had in a long time, and more than a year later I am almost back to normal (and even doing burpees which I NEVER thought Id be able to do again). The point here is that this video is full of nothing but fear mongering in my opinion, and at one point, they show a guy who is trying to get epidural steroid injections banned altogether. If I had listened to Dr. Oz or any of these other Woonatics, I wouldnt be where I am today (and all without surgery). Modern Medicine poses all sorts of risks, but the benefits are heavily outweighed by those risks. There is nothing wrong with letting you know the potential dangers, but to present them in such a way that it scares the crap out of people is just wrong. Its also dead wrong to try and ban something that has helped thousands and thousands of people (myself included). It is also your duty as a patient to make sure the one working on you is BOARD CERTIFIED. Otherwise, you run the risk of having someone operate on you who doesnt know what theyre doing. Thats what I did. And thank goodness I decided to go with my gut instinct instead of listening to someone whos only interest is ratings (and not to mention someone who got grilled on Capitol Hill recently for being dishonest). Also, if you scroll down to the comments, you will see where The EDNC calls out a Dr. Brown for calling them out for pandering pseudoscience garbage medicine to a daytime audience of couch potatoes.
