I want to take a moment to recognize my fellow veterans on this - TopicsExpress

I want to take a moment to recognize my fellow veterans on this day. I personally hold this as a melancholy observance of the sacrifice given by those who served with righteous intentions despite the foul-play, short-comings and trespasses of the US government. We served a country we cared for with the best intentions and often under the misguided idea that our government would not send us into harms way without just cause and without first taking all steps necessary to avoid military intervention and conflict. Thank you for your service, brothers and sisters. To the people of this country - I want to urge you to take a moment beyond the reflection and appreciation and draw your attention to the true state of affairs facing the men and women of our armed forces. We celebrate this day by thanking our veterans and active military and showing our support and I can think of no better way for the American people to show support than by acknowledging the blatant fact that our government is guilty of misusing our armed forces in pursuit of personal gains and control of wealth and resources and the abysmal failure of our government to care for service men and women when they face hardships and health complications resulting from their time in service. The long, drawn-out battles our veterans face when seeking the care and aid that was promised to them is detestable and its time this country showed real support by demanding a change in this matter and a stop to the misuse of our military. Perhaps if the US government were held accountable for their short-comings and forced to care for our veterans properly and as promised, they would be less likely to start further perpetual and frivolous wars, much less interventions in foreign conflicts we have no business being involved with. Stop empire building. Our military was never intended for conquest, but for defense. Its time we start practicing what we preach. To the veterans out there facing overwhelming and uncertain odds, you are not alone. Stay strong - even when its not easy, stand your ground and speak up for what is right. We took an oath - I intend to keep it and I know I am not alone in my stance. Much love.
