I want to tell you about something incredible....if it goes against your Theology or personal beliefs, then I really dont apologize....but I ask that you indulge me..... I left work tonight with migraine...really hurting. Just as we were getting started on our 45 minute trip home, my mom called and said that my dad had fallen. I had her check to make sure that he wasnt injured, and we hurried to get there. Once we were there, I was able to get him up off the floor...(with much fighting me on his part)....walked him around for a bit, and then got him to the table where we (he and I) shared feeding duties. Then it was on to the next step of getting him to the bedroom to change him and get ready for bed.....That went better than usual. He sat on the edge of the bed and I said Lets pray....and we did. Then amazingly, he scooted back on the bed and started laying down with no prompting. He laid back, still awake...and still restless. I rubbed his arm and shoulder and all of the sudden found myself singing an old song that I remember him singing in church years ago..... Peace, peace, wonderful peace Coming down from the Father above Sweep over my spirit, forever I pray In fathomless, billows of love As I sang it over and over....tears rolled down my face....my voice cracked....but it didnt matter, because the Holy Spirit filled the room and peace fell over him, and he went to sleep. Every now and then he would lift his hand toward Heaven and a smile would come over his face...I cried....smiled....he smiled, and slept. I sat by his side....just the two of us and I talked. I told him that someday we would sit together...no more pain...no more confusion...no more bad days. He seemed to understand. I am thankful for these special times that I have with my dad. Thank You Lord for Your blessings each and every day. Peace to you all.....
