I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge Mandy Parsons, as some of you may know and others who dont as of January 1st, Mandy will no longer be the Executive Director of Roy F. Collier Community Center. With vacation and Holidays her last day was officially just before Christmas. Even though she is very modest, as a native Martin Countian and a person who resides there now with our family I wanted to say Thank You for growing the Community Center into a more Community wide venue then just parties, a basketball place for a few or a teen hangout. Under your direction we saw the venue host Dream Martin County events including Mike Huckabee and Angaleena Sanders Presley, Harvest Festival events highlighted by Danny Gokey, a Large Back to School Bash, A great Adams Family musical, first time youth basketball league, live musical entertainment during summer months, new 5Ks, and fantastic Christmas bazaar. Even though this is just a few items it gave me a sense of the Community utilizing the RFCCC as what some of its intentions when first created. Many folks dont realize these events couldnt have taken place without the hard work and dedication that you put forth in the 60 to 80 hours work weeks that it took to pull these things off or do they realize how many hours of volunteer time your husband and kids were working alongside or in support of. You and your Management staff especially Angela Crum, Cindy Jude Mills and Heather N Donald, spent many hours to ensure the success of the center. With that success you moved Martin County forward it wasnt that you was raised here nor at the time prior to taking the job had much interest in the growth of the county. However though your hard work and dedication it happened. I have been stopped by many who I have known through my life and many who I have great respect for such as the Quilting Ladies who have expressed their appreciation for the work you do. So as a Martin Countian thank you. Now as your husband, I am so excited for your New Year and what 2015 has to bring for you and our family. So one of my my New Years Resolutions is to have the opportunity to watch you make a difference in the next endeavour which you decide upon and what cause you put your heart into. LOVE YOU!!!
