I wanted you to all be aware of the public meeting scheduled for tomorrow, August 12, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Fredonia Lions Club building. This meeting is to discuss alternative routes for the Phase II portion of the improvements to Highway 641. It is extremely important that Crittenden County be well represented at this meeting from a wide range of demographic groups. We need to ensure we have representation from the general public, businesses, and industry to express the impact of this project to our community. I have learned that one possible alternative may involve utilizing the existing road with a few improvements to curves or such. If this is done it will not involve the 4 lane right of way that would allow for future improvement to a four lane road. If this is what the State decides on we need to ensure they understand that the tax paying citizens of Kentucky are more than disgusted with the wasted money on this project and the blatant disregard for what is needed to provide a road that will serve as a legal access point into Crittenden County for all large truck traffic. We have got to show in force that the State needs to stay on course and continue this project as a four lane highway and not fall short of what is necessary for our legal and safe transportation needs! If you need any specific information regarding the progress, or lack thereof, on this project please let me know as I have volumes of information from past meetings and also highway statistics that confirm the need for this road.
