I was 10 years old 13 years ago, sitting in Mr. Mcguigans 5th grade class we were preparing to start the day and writing in our reflective journals I was sitting next to my best friend Vanessa giggling and thinking hard about what I wanted for lunch. Another teacher knocked on the door it was Mr. Pierce I can rememeber the look on his face as he asked Mr. Mcguigan to come outside. When he returned he said nothing to us but turned the tv on stood aside with his hand over his mouth and watched in horror. I had no idea what was happening, I just couldnt take my eyes off the tv though the principal announced the buses would be here to pick us up to go straight home and God bless us all. When I got home my mom was sitting in the living room talking on the phone the same scary images plastered in our home and it wasnt until I was older I understood the gravity of what had happened. It gives me chills with every picture, every time its talked about, the world has on a mask half the time about what really is going on and the way it can change in seconds and I pray my child will forever be safe and protected from the dangers this world can throw at you. Its a memory too significant to ever forget and it leaves your heart heavy no matter how much time goes by.
