I was 13 years old; 37 years ago. I was a paper-boy (a now lost, but once honorable youthful profession). I had a paper route like many boys (& a few girls) my age in suburban New Jersey; in Cliffside Park & Fort Lee, NJ, to be exact. I delivered the NY Daily News; a decent rag at the time. And I remember well that morning as I stepped out onto our front steps of 370 Pleasant Ave., to pick up my daily 40-to-50 or so newspapers to place them into my small old-lady shopping cart, aka my paper delivery cart. And I saw this very same headline shown here (except mine was the NJ edition, not Queens as this one appears to be). I remember being sad, but not exactly sure why. Now remember, this was an age before the internet & smartphones, and also an age where we did not know everything, real-time, almost to the second, like we do now. I also remember delivering those papers extraordinarily quick that early morning, so I could get to the school yard (Epiphany R.C. School) earlier than usual, and spread the sad news. Times sure have changed.
