I was able to get out for a few minutes this morning with Gavin and headed to the duck pond behind the Thousand Oaks library where there were three Wood Ducks reported. These are uncommon visitors to the area, typically only found east of California. Because they were in the same pond with hundreds of Mallards and American Wigeon, these typically skittish ducks were fairly easy to approach. Gavin had a great time just watching all the other ones there. As ducks are concerned, these are by far the most photogenic, at least the male is.
