I was always the Black Sheep of my family, because I went against - TopicsExpress

I was always the Black Sheep of my family, because I went against the grain. I couldnt help it but I just had a different opinion about EVERYTHING than all my other relatives. It was uncanny how I never agreed with the popular consensus. And my viewpoint was the POLAR OPPOSITE almost all the time, except when it came to music in the early days, during the very late Fifties and throughout the Sixties. My problems began as far back as I can remember, as far as my Father and I clashing, at the tender age of Five. We were in the living room watch his all-time favorite type of entertainment - A COWBOY & INDIAN MOVIE. My Dad, of course cheered on the Cowboys or the Calvary, who always won the battle. But I thought Indians were so cool with their long braided hair, feathers, war paint and titles like Brave and Squaw, Medicine Man, etc. And they had names like Chief Sitting Bull and strongholds like Wounded Knee and Litte Big Horn. So I always rooted for the Red Skins and Pop knew the Pale Faces were gonna win anyway - I didnt. All I know is he used to scream at me louder than I was rooting for the Native Tribesmen, The Indians are the bad guys, stupid, the Cowboys are the good guys. I just didnt buy into that logic. I saw it the other way around. One year we went to the Catskill Mountains on Summer Vacation. And there was this Live Reenactment of Wild West show involving a shootout between Cowboys and Indians and the poor Warriors were getting picked off like easy targets. Now this was my chance to change History and champion the cause of the North American Indigenous People. I sprung into action and starting kicking the Forked Tounge Speaking White Men in the shins. Well pandemonium ensued and I had to be forcibly removed from the premises. I thought my Father was gonna kill me. But he just yelled at me, I told you the Indians are the BAD GUYS I definitely do not see that way !!!
