I was an 18 year old stationed in Ft Lee Virginia in the summer of 1993 when this came out. I immediately bought the tape, yes cassette tape. I already owned Acadie, knew that Lanois produced U2s good stuff. I was a soldier who thought outside of the box even then, musically. The Seattle grunge thing was HUGE and I was into that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But this was to my ears a sonic masterpiece!!!!!!!!! A producer writing and recording music was unheard of. This shit changed my life and molded me. Put your headphones on and listen to this, then listen to some stupid shit like Whoomp There It Is and see the difference!!!! I KNEW this shit had meaning!!!!!! The panning of the vocals and the total aural experience for 93 was amazing!!!!! As a musician writing, and recording all of the parts in 2015, I can only dream of being this creative.
