I was asked about the amount of detail I put into the image transferred onto the wood... Here is an example. I always work from photographs and transfer the general image onto the wood using graphite paper under my reference photo. With wildlife, I usually sketch the basics and fill in the rest of the detail with the burner. With portraits, I try to transfer as much detail as possible... including facial structure, highlights in the hair, etc. These photos also show the work in progress.
