I was broken after reading the story of the homeless woman who was arrested after leaving her kids in the car during a job interview. I cant imagine her desperation, just trying to survive and create a better life for her children. So, the last couple days I made it my mission to seek out an organization that would be beneficial to a woman like her living in our community. Here is what I discovered: I did a tour of the Easter Seals Murray Child Development Center. I was so impressed and so moved. There are many programs that offer assistance to people who are working hard to build a good life for their kids yet are still struggling. Easter Seals and YWCA are right here in Tampa/St. Pete. Both offer safe & affordable child care for lower socioeconomic families. If your child has special needs and you cant afford necessary therapy, they will work with you to the best of their ability. Please share this with anyone you know who would benefit from these programs. I love the Easter Seals slogan: “A hand up not a hand out”. It is heartwarming to know there are programs here in the Bay Area that offer support and empowerment to working women and their families. No person should ever feel the desperation and loneliness that that homeless woman did while trying to survive and better her circumstances.
