I was going through some old photos a few days ago and came across some that really sparked some memories and a few emotions. The photos that represent a fraction of a second in time and then it marched on. But the ones, the photos, that caught me off guard were the ones of my kids. I found myself looking at them, studying them, kind of lost in that past split second in a time lost to the past. I was trying hard to think back to what was going on, what they were thinking and what was on my mind. But as I studied each of them all I could muster was “wow”! Parents always say that the greatest gift GOD gave them are their kids. That always seem a little cliché to me. I always thought that the greatest gift I could give the world was my kids. I never really thought about them doing this or doing that or going to that school or not. I just wanted them to make a difference, whatever that difference was or is but just to make a “difference”. To be an asset rather than a cost. To be the best they could be and break their own trail to whatever path they wanted. Each one has their own gifts. I know this because I see the gifts they possess, the inherent strengths they have but they each have that hard headedness gene that has passed down to them. But they also have an “old spirit”. So what am I trying to say? I don’t know actually. Just thinkin out loud I guess. But here’s what I do know. I love my kids not just because they are my kids but because who they have become and who they are becoming and…. because of the difference they will make. You are welcome World, you are lucky to have each of them.
