I was happy to spend a good deal of yesterday evening in conversation with Wayne Hsiung and Ronnie Rose of Direct Action Everywhere. After engaging in non-violent protest/ education at both Chipotle and Whole Foods in downtown Baltimore, we continued to The Land of Kush for dinner and conversation. How supportive and motivating it is to spend time with dedicated, open-minded and radical activists. We spoke on the use of anger to empower instead of intimidate, and discussed Robbie and Waynes development of a powerful template for non-violent protest to empower and mobilize activists across cultural and economic boarders. Wayne and Robbie listened to me describe the fractionalization of the AR movement into money-making campaigns by corporatized groups, and away from a dedication to vegan principal, and compare it to the de-evolution/ corruption of the environmental movement in the 80s from a radical, living revolution, into sentimentalized campaigns to draw money from an uninformed and de-motivated populace. Our discussion drew connections and made alliances between radical feminism, civil rights and human supremacy. We covered so much, I cant do it justice here. I was so impressed by these two men, and very grateful to them for their attention to my concerns, and for their passionate, active compassion, and dedication to an authentic vegan future. With gratitude Wayne, Ronnie and Kyle Harvey. https://facebook/video.php?v=10203925464310779&set=vb.1046940266&type=2&theater
