I was helping my youngest two get done with their showers tonight when my oldest son walked in and caught me completely off guard. He said Mom it takes a man and a woman to make a baby. Exactly how does that happen? I had prepared for my daughters questions for years. That was relatively easy. But I had always envisioned Daddy telling the boys but dad was not home at the moment. My son is a very serious person. He just wants the facts. The real facts. My philosophy has always been age appropriate honesty. So I delicately told him. Sort of. Mostly. He wanted to know the REAL names for the body parts. So I gave him the information that he wanted because I am his parent and it is my job to answer any of his questions and make him feel comfortable talking to me so that he doesnt receive bad information from his friends. So after I explained it in a way that made sense to him and he seemed satisfied, he said Okay Mom. He hugged me then walked out. I heard him giggling down the hall. Peeeeenis. Peeeeenis. Peeeeenis. Who didnt see that coming. Raising men, one question at a time.
