I was in Waimate today and I met with a delightful elderly man - TopicsExpress

I was in Waimate today and I met with a delightful elderly man reminiscing about life after his father came home from the war. He was recalling at that time that they had no electricity, that he used to go hunting for pigs and wild deer (which was their meat for the week), and that they had their own house cow to make their butter. He also remarked on how the kids grew up in those days, mostly playing outside. He said he will always remember his mother and how she would not let any visitor out of the house without a cup of tea and home baking. I can say that when I go visiting in and around Waimate, I still get offered a cup of tea and home baking. Some good things never change.
