I was in a sad moment, couldn’t sleep… So I checked on - TopicsExpress

I was in a sad moment, couldn’t sleep… So I checked on Facebook, to see if there were any newsfeeds from my friends. The usual everyday likes, wallposts and photos came up, nothing out of the ordinary. Then, there’s a post on my friend’s wall which caught my attention… This is a part of P’Joy’s post: “Stayed in ICU for more than a year. For me, death for patients like me seems normal. Sickness and death happens all the time in this building, possibly every week, every month. I’m not afraid or thinking too much. There are 7 rooms here, each one is taking turns and one day, it will be mine…. … One patient left yesterday but we couldn’t find a CD player to put on some music for her. All players were broken. The granny left while we felt pity for her but could do nothing to help her. A nurse came to me and offered to buy MP3 players for all 7 rooms, inexpensive ones. I talked to my friend, Kwang, yesterday and today she bought 7 MP3 players for all 7 rooms. That ‘s fast!! But it’s good because every minute counts… Thanks on behalf of all patients. I would like to buy some for kids in ICU too. Everything I’m doing is a part of the SONGSUK project (Passing on the Happiness). Even in the last moment, I would make it a valuable and happy time for both myself and other patients. I don’t know if what I’m doing is helping them, but I choose to do it because at least my heart is full of happiness…” ***************** P’Joy is suffering from a Systematic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a terminal illness. Her doctor is saying that she doesn’t have much time left. I found myself contacting my friend, P’ Kwang and then together with P’ Kwang and P’Joy, we started our little project to pass on the happiness to others, to both givers and receivers… Songsuk Pansiang : The Sounds of Happiness… We categorized our target audience to 3 groups to find the right sounds for them. 1. Unconscious patients Album 1: Prayer songs Album 2: Classical music 2. Conscious patients – Long stay in hospital Album 3: Dhamma Talk Album 4: Thai classical songs 3. Child patients Album 5: Stories for children We started distributing the MP3 players and thumb drives containing these albums to hospitals, especially government hospitals which don’t have much money. I remembered few years ago when my grandpa passed away, we brought an MP3 player to the ICU for him to hear music and Dhamma instead of sounds from medical machines. Today, I would like to dedicate all this merit to my beloved grandpa. Also big Thanks to Dhamma Drive project for Thumb drive support and P’Toey for the very nice logo for the project ^_^ We got sponsorship from P’Tu who helped in ordering MP3 players from China with a very good price. Thanks to my family and all friends who helped out with the music, Dhamma talk and stories for kids. But it doesn’t have to end here and we look forward to doing more! For those who want to be giver or receiver, please feel free to contact us at: [email protected] Thank you PJoy... Joy Juntarika .... You are my inspiration!!
