I was informed by the female bus driver as I disembarked a bus this evening that I need to cover my baby and myself when I breastfeed in public. A polite version of what I said in response was that I will cover my daughters head whilst she eats when the bus driver covers her head to eat. Calling her boss tomorrow and sending letters to the papers, and to the Ombudsman if the phone call doesnt get me the answer I require. Will also contact the Australian Breastfeeding Association to back me up. Research shows that covering your babys head can lead to SIDS for starters, not to mention that we cant look into each others eyes which is part of the bonding process, plus its just undignified. Fuming mother here! I dont have time for another cause and I cant believe that I have to kick butt about this topic in 2014, but if I have to, I will! Whos with me?
