I was issued the Cold Water Challenge by one of my Sergeants, Rich Maradiaga and I gladly accept. The challenge is to pay respect to the peace officers who have lost their lives while serving their communities, cities and state. To date, in 2014, 63 officers have perished. It breaks down as follows: Assault 1 Automobile accident 15 Fire 1 Gunfire 26 Accidental gunfire 1 Heart attack 6 Motorcycle accident 2 Struck by vehicle 3 Vehicle pursuit 2 Vehicular assault 6 Here in California, we have had 8 officers die this year. These stats leave me speechless! As part of the cold water challenge, I will donate $10.00 to the Officer Down Memorial Page as odmp.org I will also challenge the following to step up and complete the challenge.
