I was just talking to a friend, remembering a Herbie Hancock - TopicsExpress

I was just talking to a friend, remembering a Herbie Hancock session I was lucky enough to see in the 1990s, thanks to Mike Lamb. Herbie was conducting a huge orchestra, cutting an album of Gershwin songs. When they got a good take, everyone in the room - almost a hundred people - tried to stay silent for the fade-out. Man, the energy of all those people sitting in a quiet room was one of the most powerful things Ive ever felt. Richard Brautigan once referred to the silence of flooded houses, and thats akin to what I experienced - the energy of communal silence. And no, its not lost on me that Im sharing this thought on Facebook. :-)
