I was just thinking of the topic of Karma vs. Grace this morning and then this article from the book _Bono on Bono_ appeared. Crazy! All religious systems promulgate karma. Karma is basically that you get back what you put out. If you do more positive/good, or think more positive, you will get more positive/good in return. And, the opposite as well also true. The term is primarily related to eastern religions; however, it is one of the primary pillars of the western religious system as well. Christian Karma is taught like this, if you give more to God, youll get more; if you give less, youll get less (and cursed in many circles). If you do more for God, God will do more for you (and be closer to you of course); If you do less for Him, you will get less from Him (and He will be farther from you). Karma is the manifestation of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The higher you climb youre told, the farther you will see. The problem is that only 2-3% of the people in any religious structure will be able to really thrive in that system based on their natural abilities. Some call that the world system. I ask myself, what about the 97%. Who will speak for them? As I told a Kenyan friend the other day, if the Good News doesnt awaken the Messiah within the 80 year old widow living in a mud hut in the bush to all of her creative potential, then it is not good news. However, Radical Grace came in the Incarnation and even in His ancient Hebrew name, Yahushua (which pictures an open expanse without limits that has been ridded of all dangers), the heavens declared a supreme reality where you get everything for free. In the eternal words of the Apostle Paul, For all things belong to you whether ... the world or life or death or things present or things to come; all things belong to you, and you belong to the Messiah; and the Messiah belongs to God. What Bono refers to in this excerpt is the higher reality of abundant life. Enjoy!
