I was listening to Sean Michaels and Courtlin K this morning on the radio about a Facebook remark on Robin Williams death. The remark criticized the national interest in mourning this celebritys death when more attention should be given to honoring soldiers that have died in the field. That they are more worthy of recognition than some drug addict. That because of their sacrifice they as whole should be honored more than just one man who took his own life. In a way, I think Mr. Williams did sacrifice his life as much or in the same way a soldier would sacrifice his. A soldier may give his life in an instant for a comrade, a cause or a country with bullets for ammunition. If you look at the sum of all his accomplishments to comedy, film, & charity, Mr. Williams sacrificed over a forty year career. He sacrificed his whole life fighting with the only ammunition he had. . . . Laughter. His enemies were and are just as just as dangerous as armed combatants: apathy, boredom, sadness, fear, & depression. What is tragic is that his personal depression was the only enemy he could not defeat. I looked up Mr. Williams entry in Wikipedia. Interesting enough there was a photo of him entertaining troops as part of USO tour in Iraq in 2010. Can anyone really say that this man should be honored any less? If so, I say to you . . . . . . . . Ignore.
