I was often asked by friends and associates.... What would you - TopicsExpress

I was often asked by friends and associates.... What would you think or do if one day your brother came out and told you he was gay? For anyone, that is a loaded question. My response was always, Well duh...I would still love him for who he was/is. Nothing would change on my part. My brother is transgender. This video couldnt do a better job explaining something that has always been difficult for me to articulate. From the earliest memories, yes, my lil brother was more effeminate than the average boy, much to the dismay of my dad. After raising a house full of girls, I am sure he was ecstatic to be the proud papa of a baby boy. In my Brothers quest to FIND himself, he along with our family, have been to hell and back. I dont say this lightly. Through addictions and treatment, it has been a VERY tough road for all who love my brother. Through it all and as we continue to battle through an often cruel cruel world, there is always a hope and a prayer that Brother Robert will come off conquerer. There are some things about his lifestyle choices that I chose to not celebrate or be a part of, as it is contrary to the doctrine and beliefs of my LDS faith, but unconditional love is not one of them. I believe that if you/we truly got to know someone who is Different in anyway, from what we preseve to be normal you will come to know and love yet another one of our Father in Heavens amazing chilldren. My Brother is my best friend. He gives the best makeup tips, the best fashion advice and is just plain goofy and SO full of life and love. My hope is that you may have the privilege of knowing him or someone like him. That is all...now stepping down from my soap box. Humbled and grateful.
