I was outside this morning, just before dawn, to catch the bus, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking! The blues of the sky and the unlit parts of the snowy mountains and the pinks of the early sunlit snow on the peaks was beyond belief. I raised my phone to take a picture to share, but then dropped it to my side and put it back in my pocket; I knew that no photo was going to reproduce what I was seeing and certainly not what I was feeling. For just a few seconds I had flicker through my heart and mind some interesting feelings and thoughts. Please be patient with me, for just a minute, as I enter some publicly dangerous ground. If I think of the traditional symbolisms for pink and blue, for me, gender comes to mind. The pink I saw this morning gently nurtured the snow into its fully beauty, and brought it to life; the blue covered the scene, protecting it and providing a reflective atmosphere, so the pink light could preform its miracle of giving life and making it beautiful. As women and men, its probably high time that we give up gender bashing for good. The scene I saw this morning was all the more beautiful for the two softly, and peacefully, performing their respective miracles side by side in the early light. Maybe its time that we give each other the love and respect each deserves. Maybe its time we built each other up for the life affirming roles we perform and give reverence and honor to those roles and express appreciation for the supportive efforts each makes. Ill start. Men, if you have ever felt wronged by a woman, please do what my daughter Julie once told me when I was complaining about something: Cry me a river, build yourself a bridge, AND GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mothers have the most important job in the universe and its high time we gave them their due. I say they should always get anything they need to do it! I love you Honey, and my six wise daughters! Thanks for doing the most important job, too often without enough thanks from us blues!
