I was quite shocked when, aged about four, I realised my mum and dad werent the first people on the planet. It made me a student of history ever since. This is just a personal view but I do believe the following lines have an element of truth in them, at least as far as the UK is concerned. And it might be something you hadnt thought about before... The only difference between history and politics is the date......(me, I think) Travel back two hundred years There were super rich and poor The poor were quite expendable They starved and fought the wars Now fast forward bout a century There was a revolution And the workers in great numbers Sought a communist solution This really scared the establishment And got them really frightened So slowly and quite grudgingly The workers lot got lightened This bribery Bought loyalty And kept the workers quiet Cos if you have some food to eat Youre less inclined to riot This more or less continued Till 1989 When the reds turned into history And the threat they posed declined The rich then felt more comfortable They had made it past the worst So with slowly growing confidence They tightened grip on purse So the povertys returning People queue for food on street The rich have clawed it back again And the poor are in retreat...
