I was saddened to learn how dependent NASA has become on the Russian RD-180 rocket engine to launch our Atlas rocket. Americans engines launched Atlas and many other spacecraft for many decades. Though the Russian engine is cheaper, there was an economic benefit to hundreds of American companies and their thousands of employees to making it here! Now the Russians are refusing to ship. Not so cheap after all! The Chinese, etc. could also pull this trick using any of the myriad of products we now import from them. Our government must procure items made in our nation or expect to be held hostage politically and economically at any moment. It is not just better for our economy to buy Made in USA, it is smarter politically too!
