I was shocked today when a very spiritual, well-read friend asked me What is an oracle? The word “oracle” is used to describe three related things: 1) An important pronouncement, usually about the future but sometimes about present and/or past conditions, said pronouncement made by someone and/or something connected to pure and possibly divine metaphysical (beyond the physical) information. The ancients conceived of the source of this information as a vast infinite library they said housed The Akashic Record” of everything that is, was and will be. It seems they knew what they were talking about because modern physicists conceive of something they call “The Quantum Field,” the ultimate ground of all being and if this isn’t identical to the Akashic Record Library, it’s damn close. 2) The person or thing that makes this pronouncement is also known as an oracle. I am an oracle and Amy and I are the world’s foremost designers of interactive oracles, also known as “divination” systems because they are designed to put you in touch with the divine forces that flow within you and without you. 3) In cases where the oracle lived and/or worked in a specific place, that place was also known as an oracle, as in The Oracle at Delphi, in Greece. If you are not familiar with the series of oracle/divination systems Amy and I have created to help us all empower our decisions, I would strongly urge that you familiarize yourself with them at your earliest convenience, either through our website TheEnchantedWorld or IRL in the Spirituality section of every Barnes & Noble store, where the top shelf and sometimes more is composed of our Enchanted Oracles. I say that our work is important because of the following: I once asked my wife, the U.S. government’s National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) award-winning fine artist, Amy Zerner, ‘What is the common denominator in all human-caused suffering?’ Without a moments hesitation she replied ‘Poor decision making.’ The best divination systems are easy to use, enjoyable, educational, answer our questions and help us exercise our innate decision-making ability.” Like prayer, a well-designed divination system also reminds us of our seamless connection to All-There-Is. As an added bonus, using an oracle with sincerity and regularity ads a needed element of ritual to our lives. I would suggest that divination systems are The New Maps for The New Millennium. For those of us living in today’s increasingly complex world, there’s no substitute for getting in touch with your inner guidance system by using our guidance systems; there’s no other kind of GPS that can help guide us through the magical maze of our lives like a well-designed oracle, said the oracle from his computer at The Enchanted World store, an oracle place if ever there was one!
