I was surprised by the fantasy element of Woody Allens Midnight in Paris (2011). I was charmed, even, by the artists that inhabit Paris in the 1920s, and, frankly, Owen Wilson is enjoyable too; he loses the neurosis that embodies many of his other roles. The film is funny, and educational. Allen applies a yellow filter to his print. At first, I was confused by this, but it is apt when one considers their ideal Golden Age.
