Next time hit the bag with the gloves on your fists. I’ll leave you be and tell Birch you were training, but I’m telling you now don’t let that girl cloud your judgment. I know as well as you do that you’re prepping for the fight of your life. Don’t screw it up over her.” With that, he walks away from me. My mouth, now hanging wide open, I watch as he exits the gym and leaves me to think about his last words. Looking down at my throbbing knuckles, I need a moment to relax. I take a few steps over to the bench, grabbing the water bottle out of my bag and chug it down within a few gulps. What the hell was Gus talking about? There’s nothing and hasnt been anything going down with me and Taryn…not now, now ever. That girl gets under my skin. She’s done nothing but turn her back on me and whenever I’ve been with another girl she’s given me attitude. What the hell? After the last two years of high school and us completely hating on each other, four years of her being away at school were a God sent. My brother and Mike may be up her ass in more ways than one, but for me I’d rather her remain a distant stranger in my life.
