I was talking with a Knox county officer today at a local school that didnt know a person with a tn. state handgun carry permit could have a handgun on them while on school property as long as they didnt have the hangun in their hand and no one else in the vehicle has it in their hand the only way you can carry on school property is if you do not get out of your vehicle while picking up a child and not holding the handgun while on the school property and do not ! leave your handgun in your vehicle and go into the school do not step out of your vehicle and you must have a Tn. state handgun permit on you at all times do not leave your vehicle while on school property and go into the school stay in your vehicle and also other places no matter where you go as long as your carring your handgun this meaning even a mall always look at each place of business you are going to enter make sure you can carry in that business it will be posted on the front door of the business also there are places you can not carry your handgun and it is not posted court houses any police dept. fire dept. post office any Gov. build.inside a public or private school and some places where you work it is your job to know and to understand this keep up with the laws in this state and other states, go online to tn.gov click on handgun permits and look the page over also what to do if you are going to leave the state of tn. you must call the state police of each state you are going through and let them know you have a tn. state handgun permit and ask what the laws are in that state and make sure you can carry in that state this is very important to do or you could be looking at some time in jail and lose you handgun permit if you would like to know more and cant find it on the tn.gov web site you can call me and i will go over all i know about the laws in this state and help you find out about the laws in other states 865-237-4481. //// this is for any knox county officer or knoxville city police officer that is not sure of the changing laws on handgun carry in this state as the officer i talked with at the school i met today he didnt know he thought a person no matter even if they had a permit could have the hangun on them as long as they did not get out of their vehicle or not i would love to have any law enforcement officer even though you are very well trained to take a in class room course with me we dont need to go to the range but would love to have you in the class if your not sure of the changing laws on handgun carry in the state of tn. at no charge i wil take a wekend class and only schedule officers in this class just to talk and go over tn. state handgun carry permit laws no disrespect to any of you just when i heard this officer say this kinda shocked me that he didnt know about this law and his name will not be giving out so dont even ask. thank you.
