I was tasked by Chris Warrilow to discuss one movie that made a huge impression or was part of an important memory for me. Movies have always been closely associated with memories for me so I have many to choose from such as the 3 hours & 10 minutes of Seven Samurai I taped before a roommate fast forwarded to the end after I went to sleep, or lining up for a movie that I wasnt going to see so a friend could get good seats, or seeing Star Trek 3 in the Imax Cinesphere and cracking up the row in front with Klingon sons youve killed my bastard! The movie that has stayed with me the most was one of the most terrifying movies Ive ever seen. It was the bright, cheerful story of an elderly British couple dying of radiation poisoning after WW3, sort of Beatrix Potter set in the world of Max Max. It was called When the Wind Blows and is a deeply disturbing look at the chances of survival if we let our world succumb to nuclear war. Eric Bogle did a song based on the movie and it pulls no punches in terms of bleak futures. https://youtube/watch?v=fq8_fGOCQYA
