I was thinking about the seasons of life. Sometimes you’re in a particular “season” for a while before it’s time to move onto the next. But what about those people who see their season is changing, yet refuse to change with it? They choose to stay “fixed” or “stuck” in the same season of life, even when it’s CLEAR that things are changing around them… The old season is urging… almost pushing them out of the nest so that they can spread their wings and fly into the next season. But, they are stubborn and refuse to move. Or maybe they let fear (yes, that bully fear) prohibit them from taking that leap of faith or making that deliberate move into whatever is next. You’ve seen them. You know these folks, whether loved ones, friends or acquaintances...or yourself. You come back 5 – 10 – 20 years later, and they’re still in the exact same place, doing the exact same thing, speaking the exact same words. “You know I should’ve ….”, “I know I need to make improvements, I could be so much better, but…”, “I wish I could …”, “I’m going to take that trip someday, but…” What will keep you from settling? What will push you to take the leap into the next season? What will help you to get OUT of the old and INTO the new? The final decision lies with you. Have you ever watched “Good Will Hunting”? If you haven’t it’s a classic and it’s a must. For those who haven’t seen it, I won’t be giving any spoilers except to say (1) there’s quite a bit of profanity – but if you can get past that, this is an excellent film. (2) Most importantly, it’s about a young guy who recognizes his gifts in life, and has people invest in him as a person. At the end, had the choice to stay the same – stay in the same neighborhood, doing the same things, living in the same place – or go for his dreams/desires. His friend told him – one day he wanted to drive by his house to pick him up and NOT find him there (meaning he’d have chosen to go for his dreams). Here’s the scene where he tells his friend “I hope you’re not there” (excuse the profanity and the subtitles): #kaydeethoughts @kaydeethoughts - IG / Twitter / FB Enjoy / Like / Follow / Share
